Join MMA naturalists for an exploration into the world of science! We will deep dive into the microscopic world, investigate shark biology, create agar art with bacteria or even collect and examine phytoplankton. Together we will tap into our curious nature to uncover more secrets of the natural world. Each week, this program will specifically focus on a dedicated scientific topic!
This program meets at the Hinchman House Natural Science Museum located at 7 Milk Street, Nantucket. This program is appropriate for adults and children ages 5 and older. All registered children must be accompanied by a a registered adult to participate in this program. Pre-registration is required for this program due to material prep.

Enjoy this program specially-designed for the young explorer in your family! During each session, a MMA educator will read a nature- or science-related book, introduce you to one of the MMA's animal ambassadors, and will finish up with an activity related to the story. This is a reoccurring program, but the specific focus and materials provided will change each week and there will be a take home gift.
This program is appropriate for children ages 3 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must register. Please check in for this program at the front desk of the Hinchman House Natural Science Museum at 7 Milk Street.

Join MMA staff on a tour as they feed the hungry animals at the Natural Science Museum! Learn about the unique adaptations of turtles, frogs, snakes, and more at the MMA Natural Science Museum! You will get to learn about and interact with several of the MMA Natural Science Museum educational animals. This is a great way to learn about native and non-native species up-close, especially if you love animals.

An evening story-time where pajamas are encouraged but not required.
Enjoy this program designed to delight children of all ages. During each session, a MMA educator will read diverse stories and lead activities that promote discovery and imagination. This program encourages children to develop a lifelong love of nature, reading and learning and introduces them to the culture of reading. A story related craft is included. Night-time has always had a mysterious appeal, which brings out a whole new cast of avian and other creatures. It requires patience, and a shift of consciousness from sight to hearing. Join MMA's Field Ornithologist, Ginger Andrews, to listen for the calls of Saw-whet owls and a variety of nocturnal animals and birds. We will watch for Saw-whets as they begin their nightly activity. While a sighting is not guaranteed, you will certainly be able to observe several fascinating nocturnal animal species.
The Saw-whet Seek meets at the MMA Research Center at 2 Vestal St. at the respective time. This program is meant for adults, but children 8 and up are welcome to register with an adult guardian. This program will be canceled in the event of inclement weather and a ticket exchange issued for an alternative date. Pre-registration is recommended as programs do fill up but walk-ins are welcome subject to availability. Registration deadline: 2 hours prior to program start time.

MMA Learning Lab – a series of 90 minute workshops on a range of topics designed to spark curiosity, brought to life by MMA experts and special guests. Our new program kicks off on January 10th, in person at 8am with a Leadership Lab facilitated by MMA Executive Director Joanna Roche.
Create a roadmap to your year with a discussion, prompts, visual tools and your personal brand of creativity. Make 2025 and your vision for yourself a reality with a good planning session, a dose of energy and encouragement, and leave with a tool that helps you achieve your goals.

What is the allure of birding? We have always looked to birds to tell us what is happening in the world around us but there are almost as many ways to enjoy birds as there are birders. Join MMA's Field Ornithologist Ginger Andrews for a two part workshop to find your own unique birding style, with tips and suggestions to find and identify Nantucket's varied avian life.
This program convenes at the MMA Research Center parking area at 2/4 Vestal St. at 2:45 PM. This workshop is a 2 part series but you may register for individual events. The time of the field trip will be solidified during the Friday afternoon session. Children 8 and up are welcome with an adult guardian. Loaner binoculars are available for use. Wear sensible shoes and dress for the weather at the time of the program.
